WELCOME  TO  SLATE  STONE  ART

The Home of Modern Day  Petroglyphs  & Pictographs

Webster's Dictionary Definitions
Petroglyph  n:  a carving or an inscription on a rock, a rock carving especially a prehistoric one
Pictograph  n:  an ancient or prehistoric drawing or painting on a rock wall.

Slate Stone Art is truly "Canadian" specific to Canada's beautiful Columbia Valley, created by a Columere Park, Fairmont Hot Springs, Artist on local Purcell Mountain Slate Stone.

Slate Stone Art is a timeless medium.  These engravings and relief sculptures on slate stone will endure for centuries.

Purcell Mountain Slate Stone was formed  approximately 1,500 million years ago in the pre-Cambrian age.

Since I work with each piece of "hand picked" slate stone to  individually bring out that "special creature" waiting there, each creation is uniquely "one-of-a-kind".

Pieces have now traveled to their new homes in ten countries.

Big Horn Sheep, Eagles, Elk,  Moose, and Mountain Lions have "NATURE  NOTES" sections presenting my own personal experiences, encounters and research.

Bears Big Horn Sheep , Bison  and The Great Blue Herons have special sections containing  Totems, Signs and Lore.

The small beveled pictures link to related pages, so just "click-a-pic" for easy browsing.

The magnificent Columbia Valley inspires me to create a wide variety of subjects including my favorite mythological friend  "Kokopelli, - The Bringer of Joy and Inspiration", as well as my interpretive creations of his female counterpart   Kokopelli Mana, endearingly called "KokoMana"

The "Poetry Corner""Poetry of Love"  and "Prairie Days Poetry"  share my own work and "Montana  Sings" presents Cowboy Songs & Poetry by both my late Father and  Brother, "Montana".

I  enjoy taking photos of our beautiful lakes, rivers and creeks and appreciated the importance of the United Nations having recognized and designated The Year 2003 as:

"The International Year of Fresh Water".
Personally, I love and appreciate our local fresh water sources every day of every year --- especially being that I live by beautiful Columbia Lake, drink her waters and kayak and canoe her often.
One of my canoeing photos won a local photo contest in September 2009  (see Public Relations page).

  "Columbia Lake - Summer Reflections"

  "Dutch Creek Hoodoos"

Being an enthusiastic amateur photographer l  opened a "Digital Landscapes" page to share some of my favorite places in the beautiful Columbia Valley.
Later, with my growing volume of photos I opened
Digital Columbia Lake and Columbia River  and Digital Sunsets pages.

Inspired by the blossoming beauty of the flowers of spring I created a "Digital Blossoms" page, then expanded to include  Digital BirdsDigital Butterflies and "Digital Wildlife" pages with informative "NATURE NOTE" sections.

"15 Hummers and a Tail - and That's No Tale"
New in 2010

"The Butterflies of Fishermaiden"

In 2006 with the growing awareness and understanding of the existence of other dimensions I also set up a  Digital Orbs page.

"An Orb"

In February 2010 I added two more pages:  Digital Paddles and  Digital Rainbows

Thank you for visiting my on-line studio which will be a continuous work in progress....  "Ever changing, like time and seasons changing me"

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoyed creating it !
